Guidance on Use of the International Symbol of Accessibility Under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Architectural Barriers Act

The U.S. Access Board provided guidance on the use of the International Symbol of Accessibility (ISA) under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA). This guidance explains how use of a symbol other than the ISA may impact compliance with standards issued under the ADA and the ABA.

Uniform System For Parking For Persons With Disabilities

This federal regulation establishes the criteria for determining who qualifies for a parking placard or plate, requires reciprocity among the states, and recognizes the International Symbol of Accessibility as the identifying symbol.

U.S. Access Board: 8-Minute Animation Video on Parking and Passenger Loading Zones

8-Minute Animation Video on Parking and Passenger Loading Zones regarding accessible parking spaces are required for each parking facility on a site, such as lots and garages. Requirements apply equally to public and employee or restricted parking. On sites with multiple parking facilities, the minimum number of accessible spaces must be calculated separately for each parking facility instead of on the combined total of parking spaces provided on the site. At least one of every 6 accessible spaces, or fraction of 6, in each parking facility must be sized to accommodate vans..
